How to connect a USB flash drive(USB drive) to your BlackBerry PlayBook

Connect USB Drive to your PlayBook A few weeks ago, we saw a video sporting USB support on a rooted BlackBerry PlayBook . Well now guillem posted a little how-to that shows just how to get that support USB and running on your rooted BlackBerry PlayBook. You will need some supplies, including a rooted PlayBook , a USB OTG(On-The-Go) adapter(or USB A female to micro USB cable and a soldering iron) and a little technical knowledge to go. Keep reading to find out exactly how it is connect a USB drive to your BlackBerry PlayBook

The USB OTG(USB On-The-Go) The best way to start is to take a USB OTG adapter . If you can not(or do not have one), find a female USB A ->microUSB cable. On this cable, open the side of the adapter and microUSB pins 4 and 5 microUSB port Console When you have your USB OTG adapter(microUSB cable or edited), you can then run the commands to load the kernel drivers you need. Everything here is already on the PlayBook rooted, so you will not need additional files. The commands are as follows:

kill-Winchester RIM_usbmgr kill io-usb kill-devb umass sleep 2 RIM_usbmgr-Winchester-m0s io-usb-mg ioport = domap4430 0x4a0ab000, irq = 124 sleep 2 waitfor / dev / io-usb / io-usb 4 umass cam pnp devb-blk automount = + hd6t6 :/ accounts/1000/shared/usb: dos, automount = + hd6 accounts :// 1000/shared/usb: back

The line that you really need to pay attention to the last, because it shows that the flash drive will be mounted after it is connected. You can specify different mount points for different partitions separated by commas(in the example above are hd6t6 and hd6 Connect your player If all goes as planned, you should now be able to access content on the folder you selected on your disk. Keep in mind that you will need to create the directory for the automounter to work. was also noted that the kernel modules to produce a bus error and crash at times, but if this happens it is sufficient execute the commands again. So, that's it! If you are bold enough to give this a go, drop a comment here and let us know what you learn. @guillemmateos You can follow on Twitter for more updates or hit original post for more .
